Comparison of Copper and Aluminum Materials

In electrical wiring harness terminals, copper and aluminum are core materials, each with distinct characteristics. Copper terminals offer excellent electrical conductivity and high mechanical strength, effectively reducing signal interference. However, they are relatively expensive and prone to oxidation, requiring enhanced anti-corrosion treatment. In contrast, aluminum terminals are lightweight and low-cost, making them suitable for cost-sensitive applications. Nevertheless, their electrical conductivity is inferior, and they present a higher risk of oxidation and corrosion, which may lead to poor contact or potential short-circuit hazards. Therefore, in practical material selection, it is necessary to balance electrical load and environmental conditions. For example, copper terminals are preferred for high-voltage systems, while aluminum may be considered as an alternative in light-load applications to avoid failures caused by inappropriate material choices.
